Canada Games Camp
Hello Canada Games Core Team Athletes, Our camp that was planned for MIramichi this coming weekend will bepostponed due to low response and subscription to the camp. We are a year away from the Canada Games Competiiton and it is the time forall swimmers who are Canada GAmes Team hopefulls to start thinking ahead andmaking goals for performance and results at Canada Games. I am planning on giving out a dryland program that all athletes can dothroughout the season and we will be working on some goal setting for theupcoming year so that we are ready to race when we get to PEI. There were only 10 swimmers who had responded to the camp for this weekendand the materials that will be covered are important for all members of thecore team. Thank you to those of you that sent in your forms, or let us knowwhy you couldn't make it. Robin will hold on to the forms and cheques (notcashed yet) for those of you that sent your information in, and we willconsider you confirmed for the next camp unless we hear otherwise once thedate is confirmed. We are looking in to trying to have the camp either September 13 or 20. Please keep your schedules open and make it a priority to attend the camp tomake sure we start the season together and do all that we can to have thebest team possible for New Brunswick when we race at Canada GAmes nextsummer. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your summer!! Paula CrutcherNB Canada Games Team Head Coach

Hello Everyone, We have some good news and bad news about the Tri-meet in November. Bad news- Maine has dropped out- they think it's too expensive for them togo all the way to Halifax because their dollar is not good here (no comment)Good news- PEI will be replacing them, so we will still have the Tri-meet!It's going to be on Saturday, November 8 in Halifax starting at Noon. NS isgoing to be changing their selection criteria to Age Group Nationalde-qualifier (anyone qualified for AG Nationals for 2009 is ineligible). Wedon't necessarily have to follow their selection criteria- PLEASE PROVIDEFEEDBACK AS TO WHAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE OUR CRITERIA! I think their view was it seems to be the same swimmers for everything andit would be an opportunity to give those swimmers close to AG Nats a chanceto "shine".RobinRobin FerdinandExecutive Director/Directrice générale Swimming New Brunswick/ Natation Nouveau-Brunswick900 Chemin Hanwell Road, Suite 13Fredericton, NB E3B 6A2Phone/Tél:506-451-1323Fax/Téléc: 506-451-1325swimnb@nb.aibn.comhttp://www.swimnb.ca

From Robin SNB-Olympic Buddy Update -
Hi Everyone,
Here is a forwarded note from Genevieve Samur, our "Olympic Buddy". She hasn't had much chance to send us any notes as she is super busy- she is preparing for the relay next (she hasn't seen her parents yet and they're in Beijing), but here is what she wanted to pass on:
"Hi everyone, things are great here in Beijing! It's great to walk amongst the best in the world and to feel part of them. We have a great team and we are really happy that Canada is behind us and the public is very supportive. Keep watching CBC and cheering on the Canadians. Thanks for all the messages. Gen"

Swim Canada Policy Associations
SWIMMING ASSOCIATIONS
SNC embraces the concept of Associations as a means to exercise “economies of scale” in providing an enhanced training and competitive atmosphere for swimmers. PSO’s will be tasked with reviewing their respective Association applications and ensuring annual compliance related to the Operating Structure. The following policies govern the formation and function of Member Swimming Associations:
1. Clubs and University teams must register with their PSO as individual clubs
2. Two or more Clubs and/or University teams may apply to their respective PSO to form an Association
3. A Club and/or University team may be a member of only one Association at any given time
4. A registered Association will not be granted voting status within the provincial or national jurisdictions
5. Athlete transfer procedures are not affected by the existence of an Association; however, swimmers moving within clubs in an association may still compete for the Association during the 30-day unattached period
6. PSOs will set their own annual association fees, payable no later than October 31st of each year, or upon approval of new Association status by the Executive Director / Technical Director
Operating Structure:
1. All Associations must be legal entities (a registered ‘not-for-profit’ society or a registered incorporation)
2. All Associations shall have formal written agreements, signed by the President and Head Coach of each program
3. All Associations must have a constituted Board of Directors and a formal decision-making structure
4. A Technical Director or Consultant must be named whose role is to improve the quality of swimming in the Association; specifically, the Technical Director will create an annual plan that includes regularly planned Association training sessions, training camps, coaching education/mentoring opportunities, ancillary activities and a competition schedule, to be submitted to the PSO Executive Director/Technical Director prior to September 30 of each year
5. A Club and/or University team may join an Association at any time
6. A Club and/or University team may not transfer or change Associations except after Summer Nationals and prior to September 30 each year
7. A Club and/or University team may compete as an individual club/team, or their respective Association at any competition, but all swimmers of the program must compete as that entity for the entire competition
Annual Review:
Associations will be reviewed on an annual basis by the Executive Director / Technical Director of the PSO. The purpose is to ensure compliance to requirements stated in Operating Structure. The Executive Director will give non-compliant Association(s) a three-month period to make the appropriate changes to their operating structure. Failure to comply will result in suspension of the Association.
Application Process:
1. When applying for status as an Association, the application must submit to the Executive Director of their PSO:Proof that the Association is a legal entity within their province.
2. A formal written agreement signed by the President and Head Coach of each Program
3. A list of the Association’s Board of Directors and Technical Director/Consultant
4. An outline of the Association’s formal decision making structure.
5. An outline of the Association’s Annual Training Plan, incorporating the Association training opportunities, training camps, coaching education/mentoring opportunities, ancillary activities and a competition schedule.
6. Expected results and Performance Measures for Years 1, 2 and 3.
